I researched and re-filmed the media appearances of major stars and politicians, creating a personal archive. I played them on a monitor while a specially designed radio-transmitting camera captured and broadcast a live feed to another monitor connected to the receiver.

Standing in front of this monitor with my camera in hand, like a press photographer waiting for the perfect moment, I placed and moved objects, of varying densities, between the transmitting camera and the receiver antenna. These objects trapped the radio waves, disrupting the signal and creating various visual distortions reminiscent of faulty TV broadcasts, manifesting as a “bad” or distorted transmission.

We must not forget where someone came from and how they started their career. Can I artificially boost my fame with a scandal? Who will remember this later? The series serves as a footnote and archive of what engages media consumers, where someone started, where they are now, and where they are heading.

These distortions blur, alter, and recolor reality, one that has already been reshaped. Some images feature the inscription “AV1”, which appears on TV screens as the designation for the radio channel, only becoming visible when the signal is re-detected after a period of darkness.
Can distortion be balanced out by adding more distortion?
